Da Nang is one of Vietnam’s easiest cities to love: long sandy beaches, mountains a short drive away, great street food and two UNESCO World Heritage towns within day-trip distance. Whether you have two days or a full week, this guide covers the best things to do in Da Nang in 2026, plus practical tips from our local team at Alo Travel.
1. Walk the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills
Held up by two giant stone hands, the Golden Bridge (Cầu Vàng) has become the icon of Da Nang. It sits in the Ba Na Hills resort on top of a mountain at around 1,500m, reached by a long cable car ride over the rainforest. Up top you’ll find a French-style village, flower gardens, a wine cellar, pagodas and the indoor Fantasy Park with rides for all ages.
Tip: go early to beat the crowds at the bridge and bring a light jacket – it’s much cooler than the city. Our Ba Na Hills day tour includes hotel pick-up and a guide.
2. Explore Hoi An Ancient Town
Less than an hour south of Da Nang by car, Hoi An is a beautifully preserved trading port and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander past yellow merchant houses, the Japanese Covered Bridge and old assembly halls, then stay for the evening when hundreds of silk lanterns light up and you can release a paper lantern on the Hoai River.
3. Ride a basket boat in the Bay Mau Coconut Forest
Just outside Hoi An, the Bay Mau water-coconut forest is where local boatmen paddle you through narrow channels in round bamboo basket boats. Watch the famous “basket spinning” show, try net fishing and get a little souvenir woven from coconut leaves. Combine it with Hoi An in our coconut forest & Hoi An tour.
4. Climb the Marble Mountains
Five limestone hills rise from the flat land between Da Nang and Hoi An, each named after one of the five elements. The largest, Thuy Son (Water Mountain), is full of caves, pagodas and viewpoints. Wear shoes with good grip – the stone steps can be slippery. Read our Marble Mountains guide (in Vietnamese).
5. Visit Lady Buddha on the Son Tra Peninsula
The Son Tra Peninsula is Da Nang’s green lung, a protected forest home to the endangered red-shanked douc langur. Its highlight is Linh Ung Pagoda at Bai But, where a 67-metre statue of the Goddess of Mercy looks out over the bay. Entry is free; dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees).
6. Relax on My Khe Beach
Da Nang’s city beach stretches for kilometres along the east side of town. Come early morning to see locals swimming and exercising, or late afternoon for a sunset stroll. Always swim in areas with lifeguards and follow the flags, especially from October to December when the sea can be rough.
7. See Da Nang’s bridges by night
The Han River is the heart of the city at night. Stroll along the riverbank, visit the Love Bridge, and on weekend evenings join the crowds watching the Dragon Bridge breathe fire and water. Afterwards, the Son Tra night market at the foot of the Dragon Bridge is a good spot for snacks.
8. Eat your way through the city
Don’t leave without trying mì Quảng (turmeric noodles with a little rich broth), bún chả cá (fish cake noodle soup), bánh tráng cuốn thịt heo (pork rolled in rice paper with herbs) and fresh seafood. Con Market is a local favourite for street snacks.
9. Take a day trip to Hue or Cu Lao Cham
History lovers can cross the Hai Van Pass to Hue, the former imperial capital, with its Citadel and royal tombs – see our Da Nang – Hue day tour. Beach lovers can take a speedboat to the Cu Lao Cham islands for snorkelling in the dry season (island trips usually pause in rough weather).
10. Soak in hot springs at Than Tai Mountain
On a cooler or rainy day, the hot springs and mud baths at Than Tai Mountain are a relaxing escape for couples and families.
When is the best time to visit Da Nang?
The dry season, roughly February to August, brings sunny days ideal for beaches and island trips. From around September to December is the rainy season, with the highest chance of storms in late October and November – still a fine time for Ba Na Hills, hot springs, museums and food, as long as you stay flexible.
How to get around
Taxis and ride-hailing apps are easy within the city. For day trips, a private car with driver or a small-group tour saves time and hassle. Alo Travel runs daily small-group tours with English-speaking guides and hotel pick-up in Da Nang and Hoi An.
